Harry J. Karapalides is an award-winning writer, filmmaker, and historian whose work bridges historical scholarship, cinematic storytelling, and cultural preservation. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Widener University and his Juris Doctor from Widener Law, grounding his creative career in rigorous academic and legal training.

 

Harry is the author of eight historical novels and novellas, including A Christmas War, which earned him the “Best New Writer” award from AudioBookReviewer.com in 2021. His debut work, Dates of the American Revolution: The Who, What and Where for the War of Independence, is widely used as an educational reference and textbook in school libraries and by major historical institutions, including the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. He is also a world-renowned blogger, prominently featured on the Greek-American multimedia platform CosmosPhilly.com, where his writing continues to reach a global audience.

In film, Harry has established himself as a highly decorated screenwriter, with feature scripts Revolt and A Promise of Remembrance earning numerous international accolades, including Best Feature Script and Best Screenplay honors from Art Film Awards, Athvikvaruni International Film Festival, Rome Outcast Independent Film Awards, Golden Horse International Film Festival, and the Indo-French International Film Festival. His creative contributions extend beyond writing—he served as music selector and consultant for the award-winning documentary short Angel on the Corner, directed by Eleftherios Kostans, which received Best Director and Best Documentary Short at the White Pearl International Film Festival and Best Narrative Short at the Blackboard International Film Festival. He also worked as a historical consultant on In Support of Liberty: Philadelphia and the Greek War of Independence, another Eleftherios Kostans documentary, winner of multiple awards including Best Documentary Short at the Vegas Movie Awards.

Harry is the founding member and President of 69th Street Productions, Inc., a film investment, development, and production company based in the greater Philadelphia area. He is also the founder of Karapalides Films, Inc., currently in pre-production on the horror feature The Hayride and developing The Ghost. As an actor, he has appeared in The Impact Factor (produced by Ken McArthur) and Recipes for Love – The Miniseries (produced by Diana Carter).

A respected figure within both the creative and cultural communities, Harry is a member of the Raindance Film Festival (London), the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (Los Angeles), and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – Mid-Atlantic Chapter. Beyond entertainment, he has held significant leadership roles, including Co-Chairman of the 2023 Greek Independence Celebration in Philadelphia, past president of multiple civic and cultural organizations, and current Board Member of the Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia.
